A US bank is seeking a Director, Product Engineering to lead and drive innovation across its digital product portfolio.

Position Overview:
The Director, Product Engineering will be responsible for overseeing the engineering teams that build and maintain digital banking products and services. This role requires a strategic leader who can balance technical excellence with business objectives while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor engineering teams in the design, development, and deployment of digital banking products
- Partner with Product Management, Design, and other stakeholders to define technical strategy and roadmap
- Drive architectural decisions and ensure scalability, security, and performance of all systems
- Establish and maintain engineering best practices, standards, and processes
- Manage resource allocation and capacity planning across multiple product teams
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and accountability
- Oversee the adoption of modern development practices including CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal security standards
- Drive innovation through evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies
- Build and maintain relationships with third-party vendors and technology partners
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5 years in leadership roles
- Proven track record of delivering complex, enterprise-scale digital products
- Deep understanding of modern software development methodologies and practices
- Experience with cloud platforms, microservices architecture, and API-driven development
- Strong knowledge of security best practices and regulatory compliance in financial services
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and scale high-performing engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- Experience in banking or financial services industry
- Knowledge of mobile application development for iOS and Android platforms
- Familiarity with data analytics and machine learning applications
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies at scale
