A US bank is seeking a Head of Mortgage Lending to lead and expand its mortgage lending operations.
Location: On-site – Austin, TX
Position Overview:
The Head of Mortgage Lending will be responsible for developing and executing the strategic vision for the mortgage lending division, driving growth, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering exceptional member service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all aspects of the mortgage lending department, including origination, processing, underwriting, and closing
- Develop and implement strategic plans to grow the mortgage portfolio while maintaining sound lending practices
- Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations, including TRID, RESPA, HMDA, and other applicable lending laws
- Oversee the development and maintenance of mortgage lending policies and procedures
- Build and maintain relationships with real estate professionals, builders, and other referral sources
- Monitor market trends and competitive landscape to identify opportunities for growth and innovation
- Manage departmental budget and resources effectively
- Lead, mentor, and develop mortgage lending team members
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless delivery of mortgage products and services
- Analyze portfolio performance and implement strategies to optimize profitability and manage risk
- Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field; advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in mortgage lending, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
- Comprehensive knowledge of mortgage lending regulations, compliance requirements, and industry best practices
- Proven track record of successfully growing a mortgage lending operation
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Excellent communication and relationship building abilities
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem solving capabilities
- NMLS license required or ability to obtain upon hire
