A regional bank in the Northeast is executing a core banking system migration and is seeking an experienced Business Analyst / Functional Lead to represent the Deposit Operations group throughout this transformation. This role sits within the bank’s business support group and serves as the primary bridge between deposit operations, IT, and the core migration project team.
The Functional Lead will ensure that deposit business processes, workflows, and operational requirements are accurately captured, validated, and reflected in the target-state platform. This is a critical voice-of-the-business role requiring someone who can speak both the language of deposit operations and technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the functional lead for Deposit Operations within the core banking migration program.
- Act as the primary liaison between the deposit ops team, IT, vendors, and the project management office.
- Gather, analyze, and document business requirements for all deposit products and workflows (savings, checking, CDs, money market, IRA, etc.).
- Conduct gap analysis between current deposit processes and target-state capabilities.
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications and ensure alignment with technical design.
- Lead deposit ops participation in UAT planning, test case development, and defect triage.
- Support data mapping and validation activities for deposit account migration.
- Coordinate with change management and training teams to prepare deposit operations staff for the new platform.
- Identify and escalate operational risks, process gaps, and readiness concerns.
- Provide go-live support and post-migration stabilization for the deposit operations group.
Required Qualifications
- 5–10+ years of business analysis experience in banking, with a focus on deposit products and operations.
- Strong understanding of retail and commercial deposit workflows, account servicing, and exception processing.
- Experience supporting core banking migrations or system implementations.
- Ability to translate business needs into clear functional specifications and process documentation.
- Proven ability to work as a liaison between business operations and IT teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Fluent English proficiency (written and verbal).
Preferred Skills
- Direct experience with FIS IBS Core platform.
- Background with regional or mid-size U.S. banks.
- Familiarity with deposit regulations (Reg D, Reg E, Reg CC, etc.).
- Experience leading UAT or business testing for core banking projects.
- Knowledge of data migration and conversion methodologies.
Work Arrangement
Primarily Remote – with occasional on-site presence in New Jersey during key milestones and go-live events.
Location
