A regional bank in the Northeast is executing a core banking system migration and is seeking an experienced Business Analyst / Functional Lead to represent the Loan Operations group throughout this transformation. This role sits within the bank’s business support group and serves as the primary bridge between loan operations, IT, and the core migration project team.

The Functional Lead will ensure that lending business processes, workflows, and operational requirements are accurately captured, validated, and reflected in the target-state platform. This is a critical voice-of-the-business role requiring someone who can speak both the language of loan operations and technology.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the functional lead for Loan Operations within the core banking migration program.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the loan ops team, IT, vendors, and the project management office.
  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements for all lending products and workflows (consumer loans, mortgages, commercial loans, lines of credit, participations, etc.).
  • Conduct gap analysis between current lending processes and target-state capabilities.
  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications and ensure alignment with technical design.
  • Lead loan ops participation in UAT planning, test case development, and defect triage.
  • Support data mapping and validation activities for loan account migration, collateral, and payment history.
  • Coordinate with change management and training teams to prepare loan operations staff for the new platform.
  • Identify and escalate operational risks, process gaps, and readiness concerns.
  • Provide go-live support and post-migration stabilization for the loan operations group.

Required Qualifications

  • 5–10+ years of business analysis experience in banking, with a focus on lending products and loan operations.
  • Strong understanding of consumer and commercial loan workflows, servicing, payment processing, and exception handling.
  • Experience supporting core banking migrations or system implementations.
  • Ability to translate business needs into clear functional specifications and process documentation.
  • Proven ability to work as a liaison between business operations and IT teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Fluent English proficiency (written and verbal).

Preferred Skills

  • Direct experience with FIS IBS Core platform.
  • Background with regional or mid-size U.S. banks.
  • Familiarity with lending regulations (TILA, RESPA, HMDA, Reg Z, etc.).
  • Experience with loan origination systems (LOS) and servicing platform integrations.
  • Experience leading UAT or business testing for core banking projects.
  • Knowledge of data migration and conversion methodologies.

Work Arrangement

Primarily Remote – with occasional on-site presence in New Jersey during key milestones and go-live events.
