A large national consumer bank is seeking a Director of Project Management to lead strategic initiatives across US and Canadian markets. This senior leadership role is responsible for driving large-scale, cross-functional programs that deliver measurable business value, operational excellence, and enterprise transformation outcomes across highly regulated banking environments.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in program delivery, stakeholder management, and banking operations, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, influence executive stakeholders, and lead complex initiatives from strategy through execution. This role will partner closely with technology, operations, product, and business leaders to ensure delivery alignment with organizational priorities and regulatory expectations across both US and Canadian markets.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage large-scale, enterprise-wide programs and projects spanning US and Canadian banking markets
  • Partner with executive leadership to define strategic priorities, program scope, success metrics, and delivery roadmaps
  • Drive execution of complex transformation initiatives from inception through implementation and operational stabilization
  • Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships across Technology, Operations, Product, Risk, Compliance, and business organizations
  • Establish and oversee program governance structures, reporting frameworks, and risk management processes
  • Identify program dependencies, risks, and issues while developing mitigation and escalation strategies to ensure delivery success
  • Ensure alignment between program deliverables, business objectives, and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions
  • Champion Agile methodologies, delivery innovation, and continuous improvement practices across project management organizations
  • Develop and mentor project and program management talent while fostering a culture of accountability and execution excellence
  • Deliver executive-level reporting and communications regarding program status, risks, milestones, and outcomes
  • Influence strategic decision-making and drive alignment across highly matrixed stakeholder environments

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive project and program management experience
  • Proven track record leading large-scale, complex transformation initiatives within financial services organizations
  • Deep understanding of US and Canadian banking markets, operational models, and regulatory environments
  • Strong leadership and people management capabilities with experience building and developing high-performing teams
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and executive communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority and build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and enterprise project management tools
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous, and evolving business environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP, PgMP, or equivalent project/program management certification
  • Experience supporting enterprise transformation, operational modernization, or digital banking initiatives
  • Familiarity with governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance frameworks across North American banking markets
  • Strong understanding of enterprise delivery methodologies and strategic execution frameworks
  • Experience leading distributed teams across multiple geographies and business units
  • Ability to drive organizational change and operational excellence initiatives at enterprise scale
