We’re seeking an experienced Core Banking Architect to lead the architectural design and implementation of FedNow real-time payments at a regional bank in Texas. This project is a high-priority modernization effort to integrate FedNow functionality with the bank’s existing FIS IBS core platform. The role is critical in shaping the bank’s payment infrastructure strategy and delivering scalable, secure, and compliant solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and lead the technical architecture for the FedNow payments integration.
  • Design end-to-end real-time payments workflows, ensuring seamless integration with FIS IBS.
  • Collaborate with product owners, payment teams, and vendors to align technical requirements with business goals.
  • Evaluate and select tools, platforms, and protocols to enable secure, scalable, and compliant payment processing.
  • Oversee data mapping, message transformation, and orchestration between internal systems and FedNow rails.
  • Support DevOps and infrastructure teams with system design and deployment strategies.
  • Document the solution architecture and ensure adherence to regulatory and risk frameworks (including ISO 20022, RTP, ACH, etc.).

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in solution or enterprise architecture within banking or payments environments.
  • Proven experience architecting systems around FIS IBS or similar core banking platforms.
  • Deep expertise in real-time payments infrastructure, including FedNow or RTP networks.
  • Strong knowledge of integration patterns, APIs, messaging protocols (MQ, Kafka), and payment file formats.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear architectural models and documentation.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with ISO 20022 standardsACH/NACHA processing, and fraud monitoring systems.
  • Experience with cloud or hybrid environments, especially with AWS or Azure infrastructure.
  • Background in leading modernization projects or core system upgrades.
  • Ability to lead workshops, solution design sessions, and architecture review boards.

Hybrid (2–3 days onsite in Dallas, Texas per week)
