A Chicago-based regional bank is seeking a skilled Core Banking System Administrator with deep experience in FIS Systematics (also known as MVS or Mainframe Systematics) to support and optimize its mainframe core environment. This role is critical to ensuring the smooth operation of the bank’s core processing systems, maintaining operational stability, and enabling timely and accurate delivery of banking services. The successful candidate will play a central role in performance tuning, incident resolution, and system optimization to support the bank’s strategic and operational objectives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain FIS Systematics core systems, including modules such as IDS and ALS.
  • Monitor and manage batch cycles, ensuring timely completion and system stability.
  • Troubleshoot job failures and resolve production incidents efficiently.
  • Perform system performance tuning and implement operational improvements.
  • Collaborate closely with infrastructure, application, and business operations teams to ensure seamless operations.
  • Document job streams, change control processes, and operational runbooks.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and operational controls for regional banking environments.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5–10+ years administering FIS Systematics environments.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency with JCL, COBOL, DB2, VSAM, MVS utilities, job scheduling, and monitoring tools.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of batch processing, production support, and regulated banking environments.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional technical and business teams.
  • Language: Fluent in English.
  • Work Authorization: U.S. Citizens or Green Card holders only.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with operational runbook development and change control documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly troubleshoot and resolve complex mainframe issues.
  • Familiarity with automation tools for job scheduling and monitoring.
  • Knowledge of optimization strategies for high-volume banking batch processes.

Work Arrangement:

Hybrid – 3 days on-site in Chicago, 2 days remote.
