A large global commercial bank is seeking a Managing Director to define and execute the global strategy for its Core Banking Integration platforms. This senior technology leader will oversee a globally distributed organization of approximately 200 professionals and manage a significant annual technology budget. The role is central to the firm’s DDA transformation — building and delivering cloud-native, 24×7, microservices-based platforms that support business operations across 90+ markets.


Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the global strategy for the firm’s Core Banking Integration platforms.
  • Lead a globally distributed technology organization of ~200 professionals and manage a significant annual technology budget.
  • Spearhead the ongoing DDA (Demand Deposit Account) transformation, building and delivering cloud-native, 24×7, microservices-based platforms.
  • Provide global leadership for core banking integration platforms supporting critical business capabilities across payment processing, loans processing, onboarding, earmarking, and liquidity management.
  • Direct the strategy for decommissioning legacy core banking platforms, ensuring alignment with major institutional modernisation programs across Finance, Services, and Markets.
  • Champion and enforce engineering excellence, driving adoption of key standards and tools to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to deliver transformative, cloud-native solutions and modern engineering standards.
  • Manage senior stakeholders (MD/Director level) and external vendors.

Compensation

Estimated base salary: $250,000 – $350,000 per year (Managing Director level). Total compensation including bonus and deferred comp estimated at $475,000 – $700,000.


Required Qualifications

  • Extensive experience managing large-scale, global technology organizations and multi-million dollar budgets.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering major, multi-year core banking and payments transformation programs from strategy through to execution.
  • Deep expertise in legacy and modern core banking, payment systems, DDA platforms, and account lifecycles.
  • Strong understanding of modern technology stacks and architecture patterns, including microservices, cloud-native development, and API-driven integration.
  • Exceptional leadership and collaboration skills with ability to inspire, motivate, and build consensus across diverse, senior groups.
  • Strategic mindset with strong commercial acumen, able to link technology investment to tangible business value.
  • Proven ability to manage senior stakeholders and external vendors.

Work Arrangement

Hybrid — up to 2 days working at home per week.
