A tier-one global bank is seeking an Open Banking Product Director to lead strategic initiatives focused on open banking capabilities, API-driven financial services, and digital ecosystem innovation.
This leadership role sits at the intersection of technology, regulatory compliance, customer experience, and financial innovation. The Product Director will define and execute the strategy for open banking products and services across consumer and business banking segments while driving scalable API platform development, fintech partnerships, and regulatory alignment.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in open banking frameworks, digital platform strategy, and API product management within highly regulated financial services environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Open Banking Product Strategy
- Define and execute the enterprise product strategy for open banking initiatives across consumer and business banking lines
- Develop and maintain strategic product roadmaps aligned with:
- Regulatory requirements
- Market trends
- Customer expectations
- Competitive positioning
- Drive innovation initiatives supporting financial data sharing, API ecosystems, embedded finance, and digital banking modernization
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Lead cross-functional collaboration across:
- Engineering
- Product Management
- UX/UI Design

- Risk Management
- Business stakeholders
- Coordinate delivery of scalable, secure, and customer-centric open banking solutions
- Drive alignment between business priorities, regulatory obligations, and technology execution strategies
API Platform & Technical Oversight
- Partner with technology and architecture teams to ensure scalable, resilient, and compliant API infrastructure
- Support development and optimization of API-based products, integrations, and platform services
- Ensure adherence to enterprise security standards, authentication protocols, and data privacy requirements
- Guide modernization initiatives involving:
- Open APIs
- Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS)
- Embedded Finance
- Consent management frameworks
Regulatory & Risk Alignment
- Collaborate closely with Risk, Compliance, and Legal teams to ensure alignment with open banking regulations and industry standards such as:
- PSD2
- Open Banking UK
- Financial data sharing frameworks
- Data privacy and consent regulations
- Ensure products and platforms comply with operational governance, cybersecurity, and regulatory expectations
Market Intelligence & Ecosystem Development
- Monitor competitive landscape, fintech innovation, and emerging open banking trends
- Build and manage strategic relationships with fintech partners, third-party providers, and ecosystem participants
- Evaluate opportunities for ecosystem expansion, partnership growth, and digital capability enhancement
Performance Management & Executive Communication
- Define KPIs and success metrics measuring product performance, adoption, engagement, and business value
- Present product vision, strategy, roadmap updates, and performance insights to executive leadership and governance stakeholders
- Support enterprise decision-making through data-driven analysis and strategic recommendations
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of product management experience within financial services environments
- Minimum 3 years of experience focused on:
- Open Banking
- API platforms
- Digital Banking
- Financial data ecosystems
- Deep understanding of open banking frameworks, standards, and regulatory requirements including PSD2, Open Banking UK, or similar models
- Proven track record launching and scaling digital products within highly regulated environments
- Strong technical acumen with experience managing API-based products, integrations, and platform ecosystems
- Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication skills
- Strategic mindset combined with strong operational execution capabilities
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments and product management frameworks
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
