A tier-one global bank is seeking a Principal Architect to join its technology organization.

Location: On-site – Wilmington, DE

Position Overview:

This role requires a seasoned technology leader who will drive architectural strategy and implementation across critical enterprise systems. The Principal Architect will work closely with business and technology stakeholders to design and deliver scalable, resilient solutions that support the bank’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-level architecture solutions
  • Define and enforce architectural standards, patterns, and best practices across the organization
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align technology strategy with business goals
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development teams and junior architects
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies
  • Drive modernization initiatives and cloud transformation efforts
  • Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct architecture reviews and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Partner with infrastructure, security, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration
  • Document architectural decisions, patterns, and frameworks

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in software development and architecture
  • 5+ years in an architect role with demonstrated leadership experience
  • Deep expertise in enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages and technology stacks
  • Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
  • Knowledge of security principles and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proven ability to influence and drive consensus across diverse teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience in financial services or highly regulated industries
  • Relevant certifications (TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, etc.)
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of data architecture and analytics platforms
