A large Midwest regional bank is seeking a Senior Core Banking & Platform Portfolio Manager to serve as a technical delivery leader and people manager accountable for end-to-end delivery and production ownership of vendor and internal platforms supporting core banking portfolio management. A key focus is advancing and modernizing the core banking technology platforms and system integration.

Location: Remote – United States

This is not a software development role; it is focused on technical delivery leadership, integration, delivery governance, and seamless delivery for vendor and internally built platforms and implementations.

Primary Responsibilities

Technical Leadership, Delivery & Governance

Develop and manage a team of internal and external technology professionals. Own end-to-end delivery and production ownership for portfolio modeling, rebalancing, trading, subscription, and financial data provider platforms. Establish delivery governance and agile/waterfall ways of working; partner with Product Management where applicable to align priorities, scope, and outcomes. Lead cross-functional delivery (Technology, Product, Operations, vendors): manage plans, cutovers, dependencies, risks, test readiness, and releases. Lead developing the platform roadmap (modernization, integration/API strategy).

Platform Architecture, Integration & Data

Provide technical oversight for architecture and integrations across mainframe and distributed platforms and downstream reporting (APIs, messaging, streaming). Advance the core banking technology stack, integrating modern technology into core banking workflows (digital & real-time payments, pricing platforms). Integrate core banking data/events into enterprise portfolio workflows for consumers and commercial data models and controls. Govern data lineage, quality, and timing across core banking processes (pricing, benchmarks, performance, attribution).

Application Support, Risk & Service Management

Own and report on platform stability/reliability and system readiness: resilience, performance/latency, capacity, and recovery planning for market-hours workloads. Implement observability (monitoring, alerting, logging, tracing) and service level objectives/service level indicators; drive stability/backlog initiatives. Lead incident/problem management (on-call readiness, root-cause analysis) and ensure high-quality releases/cutovers with rollback plans. Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Security to deliver controls and execute remediation; partner with critical stakeholders on new capabilities.

Vendor & Financial Management

Select and govern vendors/partners (contracts, SLAs, delivery quality). Manage base personnel and software expense to financial plan.

Competency Expectations

Lead and develop high-performing delivery/support teams; communicate complex concepts clearly to business and technology audiences. Strong influencing and communication skills, with the ability to partner and negotiate at senior leadership levels. Drive disciplined delivery for high-risk systems: cutover planning, change control, and release readiness. Operate with strong production mindset: reliability, performance/latency, recovery, and incident/problem management. Partner effectively with Product and the Chief Investment Office to translate strategy into roadmaps and execution. Maintain data integrity and control from source through execution and reporting in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

Must-have Technical Delivery Experience

Led delivery of integrated vendor and/or internally built trading/portfolio management platforms (order/execution management, market data, performance, private investments) from requirements/vendor selection through implementation, cutover, and production support. Technical depth to review designs, challenge assumptions, and make tradeoffs across performance, resiliency, data quality, and security. Comfortable governing agile/waterfall delivery, testing strategy, release/change, environments, observability, and incident/problem management (no day-to-day coding required). 7+ years delivering and operating core banking system technology, with ownership of production platforms and releases. 7+ years leading technology teams (engineering, data, and/or integration), including hiring, performance management, and coaching.
