A major British global bank is seeking a Senior Solutions Architect at the VP level to design and architect real-time banking rails supporting Loans and Deposits on its U.S. Banking Platform. This role is critical in delivering cloud-native, event-driven architectures that enhance digital delivery, platform resilience, and customer experience. The ideal candidate will partner across Product, Engineering, Security, and Operations to translate business outcomes into scalable, secure, and compliant solutions that power millions of customer interactions.
Key Responsibilities:
Solution Architecture & Design
- Define end-to-end solution architectures aligned to business and product needs
- Design domain-driven architectures covering APIs, microservices, data models, events, and integrations
- Ensure solutions meet real-time processing, scalability, and regulatory requirements
Technology Strategy & Platform Leadership
- Guide architecture for Java/Spring microservices, API-first, and event-driven (Kafka) systems
- Align platform design with cloud (AWS/Azure) or internal PaaS standards
- Support front-end/channel integration and end-to-end platform cohesion
Non-Functional Requirements & Resilience
- Define and enforce non-functional requirements including availability, scalability, fault tolerance, and observability
- Ensure compliance with enterprise risk, security, and regulatory frameworks
- Drive resilient and high-performance architecture patterns
Engineering Enablement & Governance
- Provide hands-on architectural leadership through design reviews, standards, and best practices
- Partner with engineering teams to validate feasibility and accelerate delivery
- Embed CI/CD, DevOps, and SRE practices into architecture and delivery processes
- Ensure lifecycle ownership, operability, and reduction of technical debt
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Product, Engineering, Security, and Operations teams
- Translate business objectives into technical solutions and architectural roadmaps
- Balance governance and compliance requirements with speed of delivery
Required Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in solution architecture within financial services or regulated environments
- Proven ability to design real-time, event-driven, and cloud-native architectures
- Strong expertise in APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and integration patterns
- Experience with Java/Spring frameworks and event streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka)
- Deep understanding of non-functional requirements, including scalability, resilience, and security
- Experience operating within enterprise governance and compliance frameworks
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Preferred Skills:
- Banking domain experience in Loans, Deposits, or Servicing platforms
- Experience with high-throughput, asynchronous event-driven systems
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or enterprise PaaS environments
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and SRE practices
- Ability to lead across architecture, engineering, and operations domains
- Experience supporting large-scale digital transformation initiatives
