A large Midwest regional bank is seeking a Sr. Principal Enterprise Solution Architect to design strategic solutions across its portfolio of corporate applications. This role is critical in driving architecture excellence, enabling highly integrated systems, and supporting digital transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will partner with business and technology leaders to define scalable, high-performing architectures while advancing innovation and continuous improvement across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
Enterprise Solution Architecture & Design
- Design conceptual and logical architecture solutions for enterprise initiatives
- Define system integration patterns across applications, data, and infrastructure layers
- Establish and enforce architecture standards, patterns, and best practices
- Define non-functional requirements including scalability, reliability, performance, and maintainability
Program-Level Architecture Leadership
- Provide architecture oversight for large-scale programs and initiatives
- Guide Application Architects and ensure alignment with enterprise solutions
- Identify technical constraints, risks, and dependencies across systems
- Influence vendor and technology selection decisions
Business & Technology Alignment
- Partner with business stakeholders to identify operational and financial efficiencies
- Translate high-level business requirements into technical architecture solutions
- Support development and maintenance of product-level roadmaps aligned to business and technology strategies
Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Provide governance and oversight for federated architecture models
- Identify and manage technical debt, recommending remediation strategies
- Evaluate and refine architecture standards, patterns, and frameworks
Innovation & Prototyping
- Design and evaluate proofs of concept and prototypes
- Support target-state architecture design and long-term technology strategy
- Promote continuous improvement and innovation across the technology stack
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of professional experience in IT, including solution architecture
- Experience working across multiple architecture domains (business, application, data, technology, infrastructure)
- Strong understanding of architecture principles and system design
- Proven ability to lead architecture efforts across complex initiatives
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred Skills:
- 7+ years of experience in IT architecture roles
- Experience applying architecture principles in Agile and Waterfall environments
- Proven ability to guide architecture for small to large-scale initiatives
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks and governance models
- Experience supporting digital transformation and modernization initiatives
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
