US bank is seeking a Vice President, Program & Project Management to lead strategic enterprise initiatives and oversee delivery of large-scale, complex programs across the organization.
This leadership role is responsible for driving execution excellence, governance, stakeholder alignment, and operational transformation while ensuring projects align with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and enterprise standards. The successful candidate will manage multiple high-impact initiatives simultaneously, partnering closely with business leaders, technology teams, operations, and external partners to deliver measurable outcomes in a fast-paced banking environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Enterprise Program & Project Leadership
- Lead and manage large-scale, complex programs and strategic initiatives from initiation through implementation and delivery
- Oversee enterprise project portfolios ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and business objectives
- Drive execution excellence across cross-functional delivery teams and multiple concurrent workstreams
Program Planning & Governance
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project and program plans including:
- Scope definition
- Timeline and milestone management
- Budget oversight
- Resource planning
- Risk and issue management strategies
- Establish governance frameworks, reporting standards, and delivery methodologies to support consistent execution
- Ensure adherence to enterprise project management standards, governance policies, and best practices
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate cross-functional teams across:
- Technology
- Operations
- Compliance
- Business units
- External vendors and partners
- Facilitate communication, collaboration, and alignment among stakeholders and leadership teams
- Build strong partnerships across business and technology organizations to support successful delivery outcomes
Risk Management & Regulatory Alignment
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks and issues that may impact timelines, budgets, or delivery objectives
- Ensure projects comply with regulatory requirements, internal policies, governance standards, and operational controls
- Support operational resiliency and enterprise risk management initiatives throughout the project lifecycle
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor project progress, KPIs, and delivery performance metrics across program portfolios
- Deliver executive-level reporting, dashboards, and status updates to senior leadership and governance forums
- Drive accountability, transparency, and operational discipline across all delivery activities
Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen project delivery capabilities and operational effectiveness
- Promote adoption of modern delivery methodologies including Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid approaches
- Mentor project managers and delivery teams while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and execution excellence
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in program and project management within financial services environments
- Proven track record successfully delivering large-scale, enterprise-wide transformation initiatives
- Strong understanding of:
- Agile methodologies
- Waterfall frameworks
- Hybrid delivery models
- Enterprise governance practices
- PMP, PgMP, or equivalent certification preferred
- Exceptional leadership, team management, and stakeholder engagement capabilities
- Excellent communication and executive presentation skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with enterprise project management tools and reporting platforms
- Ability to operate effectively within fast-paced, dynamic, and highly regulated environments
- Strong understanding of banking operations, enterprise systems, and regulatory requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting enterprise transformation, operational modernization, or technology delivery initiatives
- Familiarity with governance, compliance, and risk management frameworks within banking organizations
- Experience managing large cross-functional delivery organizations and strategic program portfolios
- Strong financial management and resource planning expertise
- Experience leading geographically distributed teams and enterprise-scale delivery efforts
