About the Role:
A global commercial bank is seeking a Core Banking Consultant to support a high-impact business consulting engagement as part of a broader core banking transformation initiative. This role is essential in driving business strategy alignment, translating complex requirements into actionable implementation plans, and supporting operating model evolution. Fluency in both English and Japanese is critical, given the role’s cross-cultural communication responsibilities and direct collaboration with global stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a liaison between business, technology, and regulatory stakeholders throughout the transformation lifecycle.
- Translate business and compliance requirements into actionable strategies, models, and roadmaps.
- Conduct gap analyses and identify process optimization opportunities across core banking workflows.
- Contribute to executive reporting, operating model design, and financial product analysis.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement through workshops, documentation, and reporting.
- Support delivery oversight, risk identification, and status updates to executive leadership.
Required Qualifications:
- Mid-to-senior level consultant with at least 5+ years in IT or business consulting within financial services.
- Proven experience in retail and commercial banking operations.
- Strong understanding of core banking workflows, financial product lifecycles, and compliance needs.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Japanese is required.
- U.S. Citizenship or Green Card holder (unless otherwise arranged).
- Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, JIRA, Confluence, and business modeling tools (e.g., Visio, BPMN).
- Comfortable working in hybrid environments and engaging with executive stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with major core banking platforms such as FIS, Fiserv, Temenos, or Finastra.
- Experience contributing to target-state operating model design.
- Strong skills in stakeholder communication, timeline and risk reporting, and regulatory interpretation.
- Prior experience working in multi-cultural project teams across financial services organizations.
